CONSERVATION
Given the heterogeneous nature of the Museum, which shows items pertaining very different field of knowledge, careful assessment of actions brought forth to monitor and preserve the collections is required. In particular, a micro fungal infestation of paper documents and dry preparations would be devastating, considering that fungi are one of the main causes of biodegrading in organic and inorganic materials.
In collaboration with the Mycology Laboratory of the Geology Department, a study evaluating both qualitatively and quantitatively the presence of micro fungal components in air particles at the Museum is currently under way.
