NEW MUSEUM OPENING DAYS on the 2nd and 4th WEEKEND of the MONTH

The Pavia University History Museum is happy to announce new opening days that will allow visitors to access the collections on every second and fourth weekend of the month, with a few exceptions.

The Museum will be open all-day from 10 AM to 6 PM, with a varied offer of activities, detailed on the web site and on social media as the dates approach.

The Museum will be open on the following weekends:

  • February 12-13, 26-27
  • March 12-13, 26-27
  • April 9-10, 23-24
  • May 7-8, 14-15 e 28-29
  • June 11-12, 25-26
  • July 9-10, 23-24
  • August 27-28
  • September 10-11, 24-25
  • October 8-9, 22-23
  • November 12-13, 26-27
  • December 10-11

During the first opening in February, it will be possible to participate in special guided tours, at 4 PM, included in the prize of the entrance fee. The director, prof. Lidia Falomo, and curator, Maria Carla Garbarino, will be available respectively on Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th for questions.

Starting Saturday the 26th of February and lasting all through March,a small exhibition, focusing on microscopy, will be open for the public in our Temporary Exhibitions Room. Instruments of the Pavia University History Museum and of the Camillo Golgi Museum, together with ancient images and beautiful wax models (some from the Kosmos Museum, as well), will allow visitors to discover important moments of the history of microscopy and relevant historical figures such as Alessandro Volta, Antonio Scarpa, Giovan Battista Amici, Camillo Golgi, Adelchi Negri e other members of the Golgi School. During the weekend of the 26th-27th of February, the Museum staff will be available for guided tours of the exhibition, that will begin at 4 PM.

On Sunday the 27th, it will also be possible to celebrate Carnevale at the Museum! Our young guests will be able to act the part of scientists from the XVIII century, play with electricity and void, try experiments that will make their hair stand on end… Anything marvels, but to everything there’s an explanation! Those who prefer card games and RPGs will be able to impersonate famous figures of the Museum and try to defeat the adversaries by becoming a Chair at the University!

Visitors will also be able to freely use the Museum audioguides and AR App, to visit the Museum by themselves.

Visitors will be required to show their valid Super Green Pass upon entrance (saved exceptions indicated by the Italian Ministry of Health).
